Will colleges consider this cheating?
No, and Atla is built so the answer stays no. It never submits anything and never writes an essay for you to hand in. It asks you questions, saves your actual sentences, and gives you feedback the way a counselor would — quoting your lines back and telling you which ones sound like you. Every word you submit is yours. That is a product rule, not a setting.
What happens to my data?
Your work lives in a store that belongs to you alone — one per student, never pooled, never used to train a model, never visible to another student. You can export everything as plain files or delete all of it permanently, any time, without asking us. If you're under 18, a parent can be added to your account; they see progress, not drafts.
Is this actually free?
The plan, the deadlines and the school list are free with no card and no trial clock. Paid tiers add essay feedback and agents that draft between sessions. If cost is what stands between you and using it, write to us — we'd rather you have it.
Does it replace my school counselor?
